Visiting Bukowski's Nightmare

Here I visited the old house Bukowski used to live in when they moved to USA. It was a very quiet and beautiful neighborhood, interesting to think that he would deliver milk to the adjacent houses here with his father, walk home with Red sometimes, sneak out, come home drunk, punch his father, cry in bed, count the planes flying overhead and more. It was a great experience and I'm glad the rent...

A must read for anyone interested in a no bullshit, behind the scenes look at Hollywood, how films are made- with a lot of trouble - and much else. Lots of wonderful snapshots of Mickey Rourke, Faye Dunaway, Barbet Schroeder, Sean Penn and even the late, great Roger Ebert ("Rick Talbot")❤❤❤

Only now, at the old age of 67, have I recently discovered Charles Bukowski, and quite by accident. I just finished "Ham on Rye" and for someone who has always found sustained reading a chore, my eyes sailed through his words, sentences, paragraphs, pages and chapters like a hot knife through butter. To have found this UA-cam channel is a GIFT - thank you so very much. It is so sweet and poignant to see his childhood home and thank you for pointing out the window through which he would sneak out at night and back in, while his father, thankfully, slept throughout. I have heard it said that someone's work should stand entirely on its own, and while I can appreciate that, I find it so interesting to learn about Mr. Bukowski. It helps me to understand his writing even further. This video helps with this and it is also a very emotional experience to think about his narrative in "Ham on Rye" and at the same time see your video and your appreciation for the man and his life. Thank you so very much for bringing this to us and I will certainly explore your other content. Warmest regards from Toronto, Canada. (Liked and Subscribed.)

It's actually crazy how much Bukowski's sleaziness is actually communicated through Baskous' voice and not via the literal content of what he says (at least when he/"hank" isn't just perpetually "mounting" people). TBH I don't know if I want to associate gooner rapist Bukowski with cats, so this new narrator might be better for this book.

Bukowski is my favourite writer by a long way . He’s the realest writer out there. Most of the lauded writers are middle class wrapped in cotton wool types that can only describe hard times via guesses through the lenses of their rose tinted glasses.

I know it sounds strange to say, based on the manner of his writing, but bukowski seems like he was such a genuinely good person. Despite all the crude stuff, there's something really wholesome about him.

Honesty goes a LONG way. I like that Bukowski claimed his father taught him to say what he means and mean what he says...

Hi, Yes this work is very coarse. You gotta look at it as you hear a guy talking in a bar rather than a guy you're reading! I'm not sure why but that helped me. Another thing, I have Hot Water Music on my channel, make sure you check it out! I see you added it to your playlist from Read me a Poem's channel, but mine's got cool pictures ;) ua-cam.com/video/vToK4iqXsBI/v-deo.html
